                    The Right Honourable Charles James Fox.
                    Sir: Since the departure of muy last letter His Majesty’s Consul at Le-
            ghorn has communicated some letters to me, the content of which I am incli-
            ned to think are worthy of your notice, for which purpose therefore, as they
            are both numerous and long and not in all parts equally interesting. I have
            judged it more proper, Sir, to transmit to you the substance of them than to
            trouble you with the originas, and so much the more as they are in a lengua-
            ge not perhaps so familiar to some of His Majesty’s ministers as to you; but I
            have translated that which contains a particular description of the person con-
            cerned and I must premise that Mr. Udny wrote to the Earl of Hillsborough
            on this subject cither in the month of September or October 1781. Nº 44, to
            which letter I beg leave to refer you.
                    There are now in Leghorn two Peruvians of Spanish extraction (bro-
            thers), formerly Jesuits, who were banished from Peru at the time of the ex-
            tinction of that Order in the Spaish dominios. They are exasperated in com-
            mon with all the Peruvians against the Spanish Government and wish much
