The crucifix is a religious ornament used in official and protocol ceremonies held at the Congress of the Republic.
Ballot Tray
The ballot tray is an open receptacle that contains the balls with which Members used to vote in the plenary sessions of Congress. The white balls meant yes and the black ones meant no.
Ballot Box
The ballot box is a vessel in which the congressmen used to deposit their balls showing their decisions to vote in favor or against the matter under debate.
The balls were deposited one by one by each Member, such as is shown in the picture, and then the authorities proceeded to do the computing to find out the final outcome of the voting.
