The Internal Audit Office of Congress is a specialized unit in charge of implementing audit techniques and rules, conducting the control over the congressional accounting, the application of budgetary resources; as well as the management of parliamentary service units. It is led by an Auditor General, appointed by Bureau agreement, upon the President’s proposal.
The Auditor General may collect information from any office of parliamentary service. On a regular basis and upon request, he shall inform the Bureau and the Executive Council on the outcome of the performance of his/her duties, and, always at the end of each budgetary term.
